VIDEO
REFLECTION
This video was created to complement the picture book. Presenting the picture book on its own might not be effective as workers might not know how to use it. Thus, this video was created to help migrant workers understand the reason why this material was created as well as how it can be used.

What went well:

I was very happy with the end product. Being someone who was not tech savvy at all, initially when i came up with the idea of creating a video for this project, I was scared. I was afraid that the end product would not turn out like what I had envisioned or that I would not even be able to create a decent video. However, through the application Powtoon, I was able to easily create a video to advertise the picture book.

What did not go well:

The ideas for the video kept changing throughout the course of the project. Initially, I wanted to create a video that would tie in with my previous purpose of raising awareness about migrant workers in Singapore. Then, the idea changed to creating a video picture book. Then, the idea changed to being about the different challenges that migrant workers in Singapore face and the organisations that they can go to for help. After consulting my supervisor, I realised that it would be a better idea for me to create a video that complemented the picture book that I wanted to create.

Like I mentioned earlier, I was afraid of creating a video as I was not someone who was tech savvy. It took me some time to perform trial and error, and play around with different video-making software to find one that was suitable for me to use.

Another problem that I faced with this video was the language of the video. As I wanted to reach out to migrant workers who spoke Tamil, Hindi and Bengali, I wanted to provide translations for these languages in the video. However, as I am not well-versed in these languages, I could not do so. This is something that I could perhaps achieve with more resources or help from external organisations that work with migrant workers in Singapore.
